What If Positive Thinking Does Not Work?

Why?

This morning I read an article in The Times stating that positive thinking has a negative side. According to Joanne Wood, Professor of Psychology at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, repeating positive statements seems to work only if it reinforces what the person already believes. “It appears that positive self-statements, despite their widespread endorsement, may backfire for the very people who need them the most,” she says.

Although I do think that positive thinking can work, I am also sure it will not solve all your problems. This ties in well with the Law of Attraction.

Law of Attraction
The Law of Attraction (LOA) states that what you think about most of the time, eventually manifests in your life. Say you are short on money. According to some self help gurus, if you write out a check to yourself for $100,000 and you look at the check enough times, in time you will manifest this exact amount of dollars in your life. That might work. But what if every time you look at the check you think about how poor you are right now, how badly you need the money, how you don’t deserve to own that kind of money, money is the root of all evil, et cetera. That way you reinforce all your old beliefs every time you look at that check. That just might make it worse, because in the end you attract what you think about most of the time.

So how can we handle this problem?

EFT
The use of positive affirmations, vision boards and all other things associated with making clear what you want in life have no effect if there are negative or limiting beliefs associated with what you want. If you use EFT on these negative and limiting beliefs you clear the blocks that are in the way of getting to what you want.

You can tap on your own negative or limiting beliefs or you can tap on the positive affirmations. See what works best for you or do a combination of both. If you want more inspiration, I already wrote an article on limiting beliefs concerning Making Money Online and EFT.

More on EFT and LOA
EFT is seen by many experts on LOA to be the missing link to getting what you want using the Law of Attraction. A great book on this subject is Attracting Abundance with EFT by Carol Look (Try It On Everything). I know I recommended it before, but this book shows just perfectly how you can use the combination of LOA and EFT.

If you like to clear your limiting beliefs by listening and tapping along then Money Beyond Belief by EFT expert Brad Yates (Try It On Everything) and Joe Vitale (The Secret and Try It On Everything) might be something for you.

Let me know what you think on the subject of positive thinking, LOA and EFT.

I’ve had many times where positive thinking didn’t work for me. But the reason why it didn’t work was because of how i let fear and little bits of doubt get in the way. But now it doesn’t happens so much. Taking action and thinking positive is the key.
