Make Room for More Energy

I was never one for keeping the house tidy and clean – and Laura will probably say that’s still the case ;-) . But I’ve found out that making sure that the house is clean and tidy gives me a lot more energy. Everything is in place and you don’t get distracted by all the stuff lying around. Your home should be a place where you can come to relax and recharge.

A new start
I’ve experienced the same feeling of energy after my hard drive crashed. Well, not exactly right after that happened. After the cursing and kicking is over, you realize your hard drive was a mess anyway. Now you have the time to start all over again with a clean sheet and build from that. So no huge pile of downloaded files you needed to look at, but haven’t looked at for months or even years. Now you can focus on what’s really important at the moment. If something important was lost, you will come across it again in the future. That doesn’t mean you don’t have to backup your most important files of course…

Make room for new things
Throw out anything you don’t need anymore. That could be anything, like old computer parts, books you’ve already read or are not going to read in the first place, clothes that don’t fit anymore, etc. You could hold a garage sale, sell your stuff on eBay or give it away to people who might benefit from it.

If you like to collect stuff, it will be harder for you to get rid of all the things you don’t need anymore. You will rationalize and tell yourself it still has some meaning to you. Call in the help from a friend if you need to.

When you get rid of all that stuff, you make room for new things. After you finally give away those clothes you haven’t worn in years, you create space in your closet for new clothes.

Basically you free the energy attached to the things you get rid of. Try it for yourself and notice the effect it has on you.

Have fun!
